Prime Minister Robert Abela and Minister for the Economy, Enterprise and Strategic Projects Silvio Schembri took to the stage at the grand Malta Vision 2050 event held in the capital city of Valletta.

Minister Schembri opened the proceedings with a passionate speech highlighting Malta’s potential for growth both domestically and on the global stage. He emphasised that the success of Malta Vision 2050 would rely on strong cooperation across all sectors.

Prime Minister Robert Abela described the vision as a promise by all Maltese to strive for the best for themselves and future generations. “The time has come for our country’s destiny to be written, and for us to begin living it at its very best,” he said.

The plan, developed following extensive local and international consultations, focuses on one mission, four pillars, three goals and 100 measures. Its mission aims for “a safe and resilient nation, inspired by its heritage and driven by progress, which promotes a healthy quality of life for everyone.” The four pillars include sustainable growth, accessible public services, resilience and modern education, and smarter use of land and sea. Success will be measured not only by economic growth but through indicators such as the UN Human Development Index, EU Median Disposable Income, and overall wellbeing.
