Minister for Justice, Research and Innovation Clifton Grima announced that Malta will be moving forward with the process to apply for Associate Membership of CERN, after the CERN Council encouraged Malta to submit its application for this status.

CERN is one of the world’s leading centres for scientific research, particularly in the field of particle physics, bringing together scientists and researchers from numerous countries.

This membership is expected to open up further opportunities for Maltese and Gozitan students, researchers and workers to benefit from experience, training and professional opportunities linked to CERN.

Minister Clifton Grima said that the Government will continue working to ensure that this step translates into more opportunities for Maltese and Gozitan people, as well as greater participation by Malta in international science and research.
