Over the past 25 years, EXIT Festival has established itself as one of the world’s leading festivals. It has won the Best Major European Festival award multiple times, while the EXIT team was recently named Promoter of the Year, recognising it as the best event organisation in Europe and underscoring its contributions to the development of the festival industry, both in music and in socially responsible initiatives.
Starting this year, EXIT is launching the World Tour, bringing events to several locations around the world - from the Great Pyramids of Giza to India. One of its stops will be Malta, where the brand new Spiral Festival will be held from July 31 to August 2, a three-day music event inspired by the ancient heritage of the Mediterranean and the spirit of contemporary festivals.
The festival will take place across venues on the island, with five stages within the Gianpula Village complex, the largest nightlife complex in Malta. Alongside world-class electronic music acts, the area will also host a special VR zone showcasing one of the world’s most advanced virtual festival experiences, originally unveiled at Expo Dubai.
Another festival location will be the renowned Café del Mar in Qawra Point, an open-air dance space on the Mediterranean coast known for its breathtaking sunset events and gatherings that attract thousands of visitors each year.
The third venue will be Toy Room Beach Club, a popular seaside party destination that blends beach club atmosphere with vibrant nightlife.
The vision of the festival is based on the meeting point between the modern festival scene and the ancient symbolism of the spiral - one of the oldest human art forms, deeply rooted in Malta’s cultural heritage. One of the world’s oldest spiral ornaments can be seen in temples such as the Tarxien Temples, Ħaġar Qim, and Mnajdra, whose origins date back to before the construction of the Egyptian pyramids.
Drawing on the idea of the cyclical movement of life and humanity’s need to belong to a community, Spiral Festival connects the rhythm of contemporary electronic music with ancient rituals of togetherness. From the first gatherings around fire to the festival stages we know today, music and dance remain a universal way for people to share experiences, stories and emotions - and the new festival is conceived as a modern expression of that instinct.
The first artist names to arrive in Malta will be announced next week, and interested visitors can already register to secure their tickets at the best prices. Registration also offers the opportunity to enter a giveaway, where winners can win flights, accommodation, and other valuable prizes.
Over more than two decades, EXIT Festival has grown from a student movement in Novi Sad into one of the most influential festival platforms in Europe. More than a quarter of a century ago, a group of young people recognised the power of music and togetherness as a force for social change. Since then, the festival has been held annually at the impressive Petrovaradin Fortress, known as the “Gibraltar on the Danube,” a bastion once considered the strongest fortification in southeastern Europe, and has become one of the most unique festival locations in the world.
Today, EXIT is an international platform that connects audiences worldwide through music and the creative industries. Spiral Festival emerges as a new event that continues to nurture the values of freedom, love and unity through a universal symbol that connects cultures and generations. As part of the EXIT Global Tour, Malta becomes one of this summer’s most exciting festival destinations in Europe.
