Malta Strengthens European Cooperation On Sustainable Mobility

Malta has welcomed European experts, professionals and representatives in sustainable mobility for the Sustainable Urban Mobility Mixer, held as part of the annual EIT Urban Mobility Specialists Network Summit.
The event formed part of the final initiatives of the UrbanMinds project, a collaboration between Malta and Bulgaria aimed at strengthening skills, innovation and knowledge-sharing in sustainable transport.
The project, which also involved the Ministry for Sustainable Mobility, provided training, professional guidance and practical experience to participants developing their careers in the sector. Through these initiatives, participants gained a better understanding of how innovative mobility policies and solutions are developed and implemented.
Addressing the event, Minister for Sustainable Mobility Chris Bonett highlighted the importance of cooperation between European countries in tackling shared transport challenges.
“The future of mobility cannot be built by one country alone. We must continue learning from each other's experiences, sharing knowledge and adapting solutions to our country's realities. Initiatives such as UrbanMinds show how European cooperation can lead to new ideas and practical solutions that improve the way we travel,” Bonett said.
The minister added that the collaboration aligns with the Malta in Motion vision, which aims to create a more efficient, integrated and sustainable transport system.
He also reaffirmed the government's commitment to encouraging international partnerships that promote innovation and help develop mobility solutions suited to the country's needs.
