Malta Strengthens Advanced Manufacturing Sector With De La Rue Factory Expansion

Prime Minister Robert Abela has officially inaugurated the expansion of De La Rue’s factory in Malta, marking a major milestone for the country’s advanced manufacturing and security printing industries.

The €60 million private investment project, which began in 2022, is expected to create more high-quality jobs, introduce modern technology, and provide specialised training opportunities for Maltese and Gozitan workers.

The expansion includes advanced visual systems and more efficient production processes.

During the inauguration, Abela described De La Rue as a strategic partner in Malta’s economic progress, highlighting the importance of maintaining investor confidence through stability and supportive economic policies.

He noted that despite international changes within the company, Malta remains central to its future plans.

Economy Minister Silvio Schembri said the investment reflects Malta’s strong and stable economy, which continues to attract international companies and generate sustainable economic growth.
