A team from the Malta Stock Exchange has removed 270.89kg of coastal debris during a Corporate Social Responsibility beach clean-up activity held at Għar Aħmar in Marsaxlokk.

The initiative, carried out on 16 June 2026 in collaboration with environmental organisation Żibel, brought together employees from different departments of the Exchange for a morning dedicated to protecting Malta’s coastline.

Żibel, a local organisation focused on safeguarding Malta’s seas and coastal areas through clean-ups, education, and community action, supported the team throughout the activity and provided guidance during the collection process.

The collected waste included various materials such as plastic, metal, wood, cloth, and mixed debris, highlighting the ongoing importance of community involvement in maintaining cleaner and healthier coastal environments.

The clean-up also provided employees with an opportunity to step outside their usual workplace environment, work together as a team, and contribute directly towards the local community.

The Malta Stock Exchange thanked Żibel for organising the initiative and guiding participants throughout the activity, while also expressing appreciation to all employees who took part.

The organisation highlighted that every effort, no matter how small, contributes towards keeping Malta’s coastlines cleaner for future generations.
