Malta Seeks To Strengthen Protection Against Workplace Harassment

Minister for European Funds, Social Dialogue and Consumer Protection Keith Azzopardi Tanti has stressed the importance of creating safer and more inclusive workplaces for women, free from discrimination, harassment and victimisation.
Speaking during the ‘Safe and Dignified Workplaces for Women’ seminar, organised by the Department for Industrial and Employment Relations (DIER), the minister highlighted the Government’s efforts to strengthen equality and protection in the workplace, including the Equality for Men and Women Act protecting workers’ rights and dignity at work.
Azzopardi Tanti said women must know their rights and feel confident that their concerns will be heard when they speak out against workplace mistreatment.
“We want a labour market where every woman knows her rights, knows where she can turn for support, and can be assured that if she speaks up, her voice will be heard and not ignored.”
DIER Director General Diane Vella Muscat added that the seminar provided an opportunity to reflect on progress made and the challenges that remain in creating respectful working environments.
