Maltese strongman Tony Farrugia has taken on two new strength challenges in an attempt to add more achievements to his record-breaking career, while also supporting a charitable cause.

Farrugia carried out the challenges during the Horizon Beer Festival organised by Qalb iż-Żrieraq at Ġnien il-Ġibjun in Żurrieq, with funds from the event being collected in aid of Hospice Malta.

The first challenge saw him carry a medicine ball filled with sand across a set distance 12 times, surpassing the previous record held by an Italian competitor. The weight used was four times heavier than the one required for the previous record.

He then faced a second test involving an 80kg sand-filled sack, which he had to lift over his shoulder and throw five metres. Farrugia completed the challenge seven times within one minute, beating the previous record of six.

Farrugia said he is now awaiting official confirmation from Guinness World Records for both attempts.

The latest attempts add to Farrugia’s previous achievements, including lifting a 48kg woman using his little finger and completing a challenge involving lifting and lowering a washing machine 15 times.

Well done Tony!
