Malta’s Last Day Of Summer Ends On A Wet Note

Malta’s final day of summer came to a fitting end, with parts of the island experiencing another spell of localised rainfall.

According to popular local weather page Aġġornament tat-temp, southern areas of Malta received a notable amount of rain, averaging around 16mm, while Mosta recorded around 4mm.

Other areas across the island reportedly saw much lower amounts.

The rainfall was caused by highly localised cloud formations capable of developing large quantities of water before releasing heavy rain over a short period of time.

Aġġornament tat-temp explained that these clouds can be particularly difficult to forecast due to weak winds higher up in the atmosphere. The page also advised people at sea to avoid such formations where possible.

Winds were reported at around Force 4 to 5 from an easterly direction, with the weather page stating that no further rainfall was expected after around 8:30am.

However, other forecasts continued to indicate a possibility of showers across Malta, highlighting how localised and unpredictable these conditions can be.

Temperatures are expected to remain around 28°C, meaning that although summer has officially come to an end, the warmer weather is still lingering.

Malta may have entered autumn, but judging by the temperatures, it could still be some time before it truly starts to feel like the season has changed.
