Malta’s IVF ‘Take Home Baby Rate’ Up To 45% As Of 2025

According to information tabled in parliament by Health Minister Ian Borg, Malta's National Take Home Baby Rate following IVF treatment has risen from 18% in 2013 to 45.01% in 2025.
The figures show that when the first regulated IVF procedures were introduced in 2013, the Take Home Baby Rate stood at 18%.

By 2025, this had increased to 45.01%, representing an overall rise of 25.01 percentage points over the 12-year period.
The annual National Take Home Baby Rate was recorded at 18.90% in 2014, 18.79% in 2015, 20.15% in 2016, 16.78% in 2017, 18.70% in 2018, 17.74% in 2019, 15.44% in 2020, 20.62% in 2021, 26.64% in 2022, 26.59% in 2023, 35.72% in 2024, and 45.01% in 2025.
The Take Home Baby Rate is the percentage of IVF treatment cycles that result in the birth of a baby who is discharged home from hospital.
It is regarded as one of the most meaningful measures of the overall success of assisted reproductive treatment, as it reflects the outcome that matters most to prospective parents.
