According to data issued by Eurostat, Malta’s gender employment gap dropped by around half between 2014 and 2024.

According to the data, Malta’s gender employment gap was set around 26.8% in 2014, making it one of the highest gaps in the EU.

10 years later, in 2024, the gap dropped to 13.6%, having remained at the 13-14% mark since 2022.

The highest gender employment gap was registered by Malta’s immediate neighbour Italy at 19.4%, followed by Greece and Romania at 18.8% and 18.1% points respectively.
