Malta's Free Gym Membership Scheme Featured On Popular Instagram Account Pubity

The popular Instagram account Pubity shared Malta’s free gym for youths scheme.

“Malta’s Prime Minister, Robert Abela, has announced that gyms will be free for people aged 16 to 21 starting in 2026,” wrote Pubity.

They went on to explain how the initiative is an effort to by the government to promote a healthier lifestyle among young people, and how it will apply to participating gyms across Malta and Gozo.

This scheme was mentioned in the 2026 Budget announced last October and the “policy builds on an earlier pilot program that offered free gym memberships to a smaller age group.”

The scheme has now been extended to include those born from 2004 to 2008.

Pubity shared the post with their whopping 41.9 million followers, with many who saw the post praising the initiative.
