Malta’s Flu Vaccination Programme Expected To Start In Late October Or Early November

Malta’s national flu vaccination programme is expected to begin between late October and early November, following delays in the delivery of the required vaccine doses.
According to information published by the European Medicines Agency (EMA), several European countries have experienced challenges with the supply and availability of seasonal influenza vaccines due to manufacturing, supply chain and distribution constraints.
In Malta, the annual tender process for the supply of flu vaccines had been concluded, but the company awarded the contract was unable to deliver the required quantities within the necessary timeframe.
The vaccination programme is scheduled to follow the same general timeline as in previous years, with the aim of ensuring immunity is at its highest during the period when influenza activity peaks.
Further details on vaccination dates and locations will be announced as part of a national information campaign on flu vaccination, which is expected to launch in the coming weeks.
