Malta's First Official Summer Weekend Is Here And It's Going To Be Hot
Local

Summer officially began on 21st June, and this upcoming long weekend marks Malta's first full weekend in summer mode. Even better, it coincides with the Feast of St Peter and St Paul (L-Imnarja), giving many people an extra day off to enjoy everything the island has to offer.

Temperatures are expected to reach 34°C, with feels-like temperatures of around 35°C throughout the long weekend. A weather warning has also been issued, with the daily maximum temperature expected to remain between 34°C and 35°C until at least Tuesday, 30th June.

Whether you're planning a beach day, a boat trip, a BBQ with friends, an evening stroll along the promenade, a sunset swim, or a visit to the traditional Imnarja celebrations, it's shaping up to be a classic Maltese summer weekend.

With temperatures remaining exceptionally high, it's important to take precautions. Stay well hydrated by drinking plenty of water throughout the day, avoid spending long periods in direct sunlight between 11am and 4pm, wear light clothing and sunscreen, and leave intense outdoor exercise for the early morning or evening. It's also essential to never leave children or pets inside parked vehicles and to check in on elderly relatives, neighbours and anyone who may be more vulnerable to the heat.

With sunny skies and a long weekend ahead, it's the perfect excuse to switch into summer mode and make the most of everything Malta has to offer, just don't forget to stay safe in the heat.
