Malta’s First Indoor Golf Simulator Opens In Gżira

Malta's first indoor golf facility has officially opened its doors in Gżira, offering golfers of all experience levels a new space to practise, improve their skills and enjoy the sport throughout the year.
Minister for Education and Sport Byron Camilleri inaugurated The Sweet Spot alongside its four founders, officially opening the venue before taking the first shot on one of its professional golf simulators. During the visit, he was also shown how the investment combines advanced technology with training facilities to cater for both first-time players and experienced golfers.
The new venue features three professional golf simulators that allow players to practise on a virtual driving range, play on some of the world's most famous golf courses and receive detailed feedback on every shot to help improve their performance. The facility also includes a putting green and additional recreational spaces.

Speaking during the inauguration, Minister Camilleri said the importance of the project goes beyond being the first of its kind in Malta. He said it will introduce more people to golf while giving experienced players another opportunity to train and develop their game. He also noted that, through a partnership with the Malta Golf Association, the facility will support the training of Malta's National Golf Team, helping strengthen the pathway from grassroots participation to elite competition.
As part of the launch, The Sweet Spot was officially named the Malta Golf Association's first Approved Indoor Training Partner. This means members of the Maltese National Golf Team will be able to use the venue as part of their preparations for international competitions.
One of the founders, Dorien Mece, said the project began with four friends who shared a passion for golf and wanted to create a welcoming, high-quality facility that was previously unavailable in Malta. He said the founders were encouraged to see families, children, athletes and people of different ages already enjoying the space together.
Minister Camilleri added that investments such as this highlight the important role private enterprise can play in developing sport. He congratulated founders Rayan Huni Bey, Alex Lemire, Ibby and Dorien Mece on their vision, investment and commitment to Maltese sport.
