Malta’s Architectural Heritage Stamp Voted Most Beautiful In Europe

MaltaPost has won the prestigious SEPAC Winning Stamp Award 2025/2026 after its entry received the highest number of votes from across Europe, earning recognition as the most beautiful stamp among all participating countries.
The competition is organised annually by the Small European Postal Administrations Cooperation (SEPAC), which brings together 13 European postal operators.
Each year, member organisations issue stamps based on a shared theme and members of the public are invited to vote for their favourite design.
This year's theme was Architecture. MaltaPost's philatelic issue featured three stamps highlighting notable landmarks from Malta and Gozo.
The €1.91 stamp depicting the Parish Church of Our Lady of Loreto in Għajnsielem was selected as Malta's official entry.
The winning design showcases the Neo-Gothic church, known for its intricate stonework, pointed arches and prominent spires. The landmark is regarded as one of Gozo's most recognisable buildings and an important part of Malta's architectural heritage.
Mary Simpson, Head of Philately at MaltaPost, welcomed the award, describing it as recognition of the dedication and creativity invested in the company's philatelic programme.
She noted that it marks MaltaPost's second victory in the competition, following a previous success in 2022.
The stamp was designed by Mariah Grech, an artist from Marsaxlokk and an MCAST graduate.
Grech said creating the stamp had been both a privilege and a rewarding creative challenge, adding that she was delighted the design had resonated with voters across Europe.
The award further highlights Malta's artistic talent and cultural heritage on the European stage.
