Malta-Registered Aircraft Sent Emergency Signal Due To Radio Malfunction, Says Minister

Local
Minister for Sustainable Transport Chris Bonett reported that a Corendon Airlines Boeing 737 aircraft, registered in Malta as 9H-CXD, travelling from Corfu to Nuremberg in Germany, has transmitted an emergency signal while flying over Croatia.
The aircraft, the Minister said, continued on its scheduled route and landed in Nuremberg at around 10:16am, where the German authorities were prepared to carry out the necessary checks.
‘Following investigations, it appears that the emergency signal was transmitted due to a malfunction in the aircraft's radio communication system.’
‘The airline confirmed that at no point was the safety of the passengers or crew on board at risk. Aviation safety remains our highest priority.’
