Malta Police Force Honour Roger Debattista Who Lost His Life In The Line Of Duty

Members of the Malta Police Force gathered yesterday for a solemn ceremony in memory of PC 949 Roger Debattista, who tragically lost his life in the line of duty 24 years ago during a bank hold-up in Qormi.

The ceremony, held at the late officer’s bust, brought together colleagues and relatives to honour his courage and lifelong commitment to protecting others.

PC Debattista’s bravery continues to inspire new generations of officers.

“As we honour Roger’s legacy, we also pause to reflect on the dangers that our police officers continue to face every single day while protecting our communities,” stated the Force on their social media, “Their work often places them in unpredictable and high-risk situations, yet they continue to serve with integrity, professionalism and courage.”

Roger’s family joined the gathering, offering a poignant reminder of the human cost of service and the sacrifices made by those who dedicate their lives to public safety.

As the Malta Police marked this moment of remembrance, they also paid tribute to all officers who face danger daily while safeguarding the community.
