Malta Police Force Aids In International Takedown Of Over €700M Fraud Ring

The Malta Police Blockchain Analysis Unit aided in a large-scale, international operation that managed to dismantle international networks of investment fraud and money laundering schemes worth over €700 million.

Thanks to the Malta Police Blockchain Analysis Unit, four local victims were identified who lost a collective of €493,750.

This operation began as a single investigation into a single fraudulent cryptocurrency platform and eventually unfolded into a criminal network that spanned across Europe and beyond.

Victims, including four Maltese people, were loured into joining a fake crypto investment platforms where they eventually transferred their cryptocurrency and had their funds stolen and laundered across various blockchains and cryptocurrency exchanges.

This Europol operation brought together law enforcement agencies from Malta, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, France, Germany, Israel and Spain.
