The Malta national football team has finalised its squad ahead of Thursday’s European Qualifier against Lithuania.

The team departs for Kaunas with preparations wrapped up and spirits high, determined to put in a strong display away from home.

Head coach Emilio De Leo has named a balanced squad, blending emerging talent with seasoned experience. Among the headline inclusions is Saint-Étienne forward Irvin Cardona, set to make his debut after pledging his international future to Malta. He is joined by Jake Brimmer of Auckland FC, another newcomer expected to bring creativity in midfield. Promising teenager Kean Scicluna (19) has also earned a call-up after impressing through the youth system.

In midfield, Yannick Yankam returns to action, while Ilyas Chouaref is available again following suspension. However, Malta will be without captain Matthew Guillaumier against Lithuania due to suspension, though he is expected back for the clash with San Marino. Injuries have also ruled out Teddy Teuma and James Lee Carragher.

The qualifier kicks off on Thursday, 4 September at 18:00 CET, with live coverage on TVMSport+.
