Malta In Numbers: Eurostat Marks Malta’s Independence Day

Eurostat issued a post in celebration of Malta’s Independence Day, highlighting the islands’ statistics when it comes to various concerns like healthy life years and employment rates.
Eurostat showed how the island nation, with 0.1% of the EU population, has 71 healthy life years at birth, over the EU average of 65.
Meanwhile, Malta also boasts 84% employment for people aged 20 to 64, which is above the EU average of 76%.
Malta also has 100% rate of households with high speed internet, compared to the EU average of 86%.
Malta does lack however in recycling rates of electronic waste, with the EU average being 82% and Malta reaching 72%.
Malta also contributes 0.1% of EU GDP, with €42,160 registered per capita.
