Malta Had 2nd Highest Percentage Of Foreigners In EU 2024

According to Eurostat, Malta registered the 2nd highest amount of non-nationals in their population in 2024, following only Luxembourg at 28%.
This was second only to Luxembourg, which registered 47% of non-nationals, with Cyprus and Austria following Malta at 24% and 19%.
Meanwhile, Malta had the highest amount of citizens from outside the EU at 20%, followed by Estonia and Cyprus at 16% and 14%.
71.9% of the population in 2024 in Malta were Maltese nationals, with 7.8% being other EU citizens.
