The Malta Girl Guides met European Parliament President Roberta Metsola during a visit to the European Parliament in Brussels, in what was described as an important moment for the organisation and its members.

During the meeting, Malta Girl Guides President Carmen Camilleri presented Metsola with an MGG national scarf as a token of appreciation, while Chief Commissioner Rachel Aquilina presented a commemorative memento marking the Association’s visit.

The meeting provided an opportunity for the organisation to share its values, history and ongoing work within Maltese communities, particularly its efforts to help girls and women discover their potential while promoting active citizenship.

As part of the visit, the group toured the Hemicycle and attended an orientation session focused on the work of the European Parliament and its institutions. Members gained further insight into European decision making processes and the importance of youth participation at a European level.

Earlier in the week, the Malta Girl Guides also visited the European Commission, where they met representatives from the cabinet of European Commissioner for Intergenerational Fairness, Youth, Culture and Sport Glenn Micallef.

Discussions focused on issues affecting young people, including online safety, youth policy and opportunities available across Europe.

The delegation included 40 women from the Association’s national board, council, international team and volunteer groups across Malta.
