Foreign Minister Chris Fearne said that a Malta-flagged vessel, the M/V Chelsea-3, was struck by three drones while sailing in the Black Sea on 12 October.

He confirmed on Twitter that all crew members were rescued, although four sustained minor injuries and required medical attention.

Fearne condemned the attack and stressed the importance of ensuring safe maritime passage in line with the principles of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).

According to Times of Malta, the vessel is owned by a Ukrainian company and was carrying grain. The vessel is now reportedly anchored and listing, with the drones ‘likely to be of Russian origin.’
