Malta Fireworks Factory Explosion Video ‘Confused’ For USA Strike On Iran

An account on X going by the name “America Millitary” shared footage of the recent fireworks factory explosion in Malta, falsely claiming it showed a US strike on Iran.
“Never mess with America,” the account wrote. “When America is attacked, it responds with force.” In a separate post, it added: “America knows how to take revenge.”
The video, however, was not filmed in Iran. It shows the powerful explosion that tore through a fireworks factory in Malta earlier this month, sending a huge plume of smoke into the sky and shocking residents across the island.
Many Maltese users immediately recognised the footage and rushed to correct the false claim in the replies.
The post is the latest example of misinformation spreading on social media during periods of international tension, with old or unrelated footage often repurposed and presented as evidence of military action.
Despite the account’s claims, the video has no connection to events in Iran, with Maltese users quickly stepping in to set the record straight and prevent the false narrative from gaining traction.
