The Malta Book Festival 2026 is taking place at the Malta Fairs and Conventions Centre (MFCC) in Ta’ Qali between 4 and 8 November, bringing together book lovers, authors and publishers.

Organised by the National Book Council, this year's festival is being held under the theme ‘Uncover the Story’ and features around 50 exhibitors, thousands of visitors and several international guests.

One of the initiatives associated with the festival is its annual book voucher scheme, which provides children and young people aged between five and 16 with vouchers to purchase books from exhibitors of their choice.

The scheme aims to encourage younger generations to develop an interest in reading while supporting local authors and publishers.

Minister for Youths, Wellbeing and the Implementation of the Electoral Programme Omar Farrugia said it was encouraging to see children attending the festival with their families, friends and schoolmates.

He added that adults also have a responsibility to nurture a love of reading among children from an early age.

National Book Council Chief Executive Mark Camilleri highlighted the range of activities available throughout the five-day event, including interviews with local and international authors and theatrical performances.

The festival is open to the public free of charge.
