Major Green Investment To Create New Jobs To Be Inaugurated After Budget, Says PM

Prime Minister Robert Abela has announced that a major green investment creating quality jobs will be inaugurated on 28 October, just days after the Budget, while revealing that another significant investment in the hospitality sector is also set to open soon.
Speaking during a discussion titled Stability and Peace of Mind for Families and Businesses, Robert Abela said the Government remains focused on creating opportunities for young people and families in both Malta and Gozo.
He highlighted the Government's commitment to improving quality of life through a broader wellbeing strategy, which includes education, healthcare and work life balance, with the aim of increasing families' wellbeing by 25% during this legislature.
Abela said the Government continues to support people through measures including energy and fuel subsidies, while also encouraging investment and entrepreneurship. He pointed to a recent Opinium survey that ranked Malta 14th globally as one of the best countries for starting a business and investing.
The Prime Minister also highlighted support for start-ups, noting that 50 businesses have received €15 million in funding through the Start-Up Festival, creating around 250 jobs with an average salary of €46,000.
He added that young people aged between 18 and 30 entering business for the first time can benefit from financial assistance covering company registration and legal costs.
Abela also said Malta Venture Capital has invested more than €4 million in 14 companies operating in sectors including fintech, medtech and artificial intelligence.
Looking ahead to the Budget, the Prime Minister said it will continue to provide stability for families and businesses while maintaining the country's strong finances.
He confirmed that working parents will continue benefiting from income tax savings, workers will receive a third consecutive year of tax cuts, and pensioners will benefit from further investment.
The discussion also featured contributions from entrepreneurs, academics and business representatives, who highlighted the importance of innovation, safe communities, work life balance and continued support for businesses.
