Lydia Abela Visits Attività Sportiva 2026 As 5,000 Students Take Part In National Sports Event

5,000 students from middle and secondary schools across Malta and Gozo are participating in a wide range of sporting activities.
Accompanied by Principal Permanent Secretary Tony Sultana, Permanent Secretary Matthew Vella and SportMalta Chief Executive Mark Cutajar, Dr Lydia Abela met students and joined them in several sports activities.
During the visit, she stressed the importance of sport in everyday life, describing it as a tool that builds discipline, confidence and self-belief. She said initiatives such as these help young people develop important life skills, positive relationships and healthier lifestyles.
The event features activities including basketball, gymnastics, table tennis and obstacle race courses, alongside interactive digital experiences aimed at making sport more accessible and engaging. The event concludes on Friday, 22nd May.
