The ‘Nitkellem’ festival will return for its second edition this October, once again putting mental health, wellbeing and quality of life at the centre of the conversation.

Led by Dr Lydia Abela, wife of the Prime Minister, together with the Government of Malta, the festival will take place on 9 and 10 October at the National Park in Ta’ Qali, coinciding with World Mental Health Day.

Following last year’s edition, the initiative is being expanded with the aim of reaching more people and creating more spaces where individuals of all ages can meet, speak openly and take time to focus on their wellbeing.

The festival will open on Friday 9 October with a national conversation on mental health, bringing together individuals and families sharing personal experiences, as well as professionals and organisations working within the sector.

Later that evening, Kelma Kelma Nota Nota will present an original production titled ‘Ixgħel l-Indicator!’.

Professor Michael Spagnol, together with Ray Calleja, Daniel Cauchi and the Big Band Brothers, will use writing, art and humour to explore themes linked to wellbeing and mental health.

The festival will continue on Saturday 10 October with a morning dedicated to physical activity and positive wellbeing.

Activities will include 5km and 10km runs in collaboration with Sunday Run Club, yoga led by Sasha Vella, Pilates with Soma Studios and a breathwork session in collaboration with athlete Neil Agius.

The morning will then continue with The Big Picnic Party, organised by Malta Daily, bringing together music, community and a relaxed outdoor setting.

Tickets for ‘Nitkellem’ are available through ShowsHappening, with all proceeds from the activities going towards work in the mental health sector, particularly initiatives focused on adolescents.
