Lorella Castillo Releases "San Dubjuż" Photograph Ahead Of Upcoming Election

Local photographer Lorella Castillo has launched a striking new artistic project titled “San Dubjuż” ahead of this Saturday’s general election, capturing the uncertainty and overwhelm many voters may be feeling in the final days of campaigning.

The concept features a man portrayed as a saint, hunched over a cluttered table covered in papers, candles, and framed images of politicians contesting the election.

The dramatic composition appears to reflect the intense atmosphere currently surrounding the political landscape in Malta.

Alongside the image, Castillo shared a poem exploring feelings of confusion and exhaustion amid the flood of campaign promises and political messaging dominating the public sphere.

“Ilhom xahar joħduli moħħi, qas ħallewli enerġija, xemgħa u wegħda wara l-oħra, wed inħoss rasi ddur bija,” wrote Castillo.

As election fever continues to grip the island, the project has resonated with many online for its creative portrayal of voter uncertainty.

“Spiċċajt nitlob lil ta’ Fuji, fors b’xi mod jilluminani, jgħidli lil min se nivvoöa, lil dak li maux se jiżlugani,” she continued.
