Local Shelters Shed Light On Stray Animals During Storm

Local animal shelters Abandoned Animals Association Malta and Noah’s Ark Dog Sanctuary have highlighted the plight of vulnerable animals during the severe weather brought by Storm Harry.
“It’s on days like these, when they are afraid and it’s cold and rainy outside, that they need us the most,” Noah’s Ark Dog Sanctuary shared, stressing how extreme weather intensifies fear and suffering for animals.
Both shelters also drew attention to the many animals they are unable to reach during such conditions. AAA Malta spoke of “dogs still chained (although illegal) on remote farms, those exposed to the freezing winds, and the abandoned souls wandering the streets with nowhere to hide.”
“The sound of the wind is a heavy reminder of those we cannot protect,” the shelter added.
Ahead of Storm Harry’s arrival in the Maltese Islands, animal rights advocates urged the public to take precautions by bringing pets indoors and offering them comfort and shelter. While many heeded the advice, others did not, leaving stray and abandoned dogs exposed to the storm’s harsh conditions.
The shelters reiterated their appeal for compassion and responsibility, reminding the public that animals are especially vulnerable during extreme weather and rely on human care for safety and protection.
