Local Parks Spotlight: Ġnien Iż-Żgħażagħ, Gudja

Ġnien iż-Żgħażagħ in Gudja has been transformed from a run down site into a vibrant garden for public use.
Covering 1,100 square metres, the project has revitalised an underused area into a functional and accessible open space for approximately 3,000 residents living nearby.

The regeneration focused on sustainability, with the use of environmentally friendly materials throughout the site.
New features include accessible picnic benches, secure wooden fencing and carefully designed pathways using geogrid technology to stabilise the ground while preserving its natural character.

Additional trees have been planted to improve air quality in an area affected by heavy traffic from a nearby main road.
The garden is now within a short walking distance for many residents, offering a green escape and promoting healthier lifestyles within the community.
