Local Parks Spotlight: Ġnien Għall-Familja, Għaxaq

Ġnien għall-Familja in Għaxaq is a newly inaugurated community garden designed to offer a safe, accessible and biodiverse environment for residents.

Located in the heart of a residential area, the 450 square metre site has been transformed from previously unused land into a welcoming green space.

The project introduces a variety of trees and shrubs, creating a peaceful and relaxing environment for families and the wider community. Around 3,000 residents are expected to benefit from this new open space.

Sustainability played a central role in the garden’s design. The site includes solar powered lighting and a dedicated water cistern to support efficient irrigation.

These features ensure that the garden remains environmentally friendly while reducing long term maintenance needs.

Ġnien għall-Familja provides a much needed recreational area where families can enjoy nature close to home, contributing to improved wellbeing and community life.
