Local Government Parliamentary Secretary Announces “Leħen il-Gardjola” Summer Event In Isla

This weekend, the Local Council of Isla will host the summer event Leħen il-Gardjola in Gardjola Gardens, offering two days of entertainment against the backdrop of Malta’s two main harbours.
The event, aimed at people of all ages and especially music lovers, will feature performances by some of Malta’s top artists, including Red Electric, Ivan Grech, Chiara, Christian Arding, and Bee.

Details were announced by the Parliamentary Secretary for Local Government, Alison Zerafa Civelli, alongside the Mayor of Isla, Clive Pulis, and council members.
Leħen il-Gardjola will take place on Friday 8 and Saturday 9 August from 8pm onwards, funded through a scheme from the Directorate for Local Government. Alongside music, visitors can enjoy exhibitions and traditional Maltese food.
Parliamentary Secretary Alison Zerafa Civelli highlighted that this event is one of many being organised across Malta and Gozo, all supported by funding from the Directorate for Local Government. She emphasised how such activities continue to raise Cottonera’s profile as a prime summer destination.
Alison Zerafa Civelli said, “These events showcase the unique offerings of our diverse localities, each promoting our culture through different themes. The local councils’ events complement the work of community organisations to ensure that every locality enjoys a summer full of activities. I encourage residents of Senglea, Cottonera, and beyond to attend and enjoy these events, set against the stunning backdrop of our two main ports.”

Meanwhile, Isla Mayor Clive Pulis thanked the Local Government Parliamentary Secretariat for its support in organising such events. He said the activity would be open to everyone, not just Senglea residents, and that the Local Council of Isla aims to present the city as a destination for Maltese families and tourists alike.
