"Litter From Land Can Easily Reach The Sea," State ERA As Balloon Found In Protected Area

The Environment and Resources Authority have issued a reminder to the public, stating “don’t let celebrations pollute our seas!”
The Authority reported the discovery of many types of litter during routine inspections within Marine Protected Areas.
“During this inspection, a balloon was found at sea after it had floated away from a celebration,” they stated.
“This serves as a reminder that litter from land can easily reach the sea and pose a risk to ecosystems and wildlife,” continued the ERA.
The Environment and Resources Authority set out to remind the public that the “open-air release of any type of balloon or plastic confetti is prohibited.”
