Cinema attendance in Malta remained strong in 2025, with the latest figures showing that a total of 513,276 admissions were recorded across the islands’ six cinema establishments.

These cinemas collectively operated 23 screens with a total seating capacity of 3,872. Two of the six establishments were located in Gozo. Over the course of the year, audiences were treated to 385 different film titles, which were screened a total of 30,207 times, averaging 78 screenings per film.

Fiction films proved to be the most popular genre, accounting for 68.2 per cent of total admissions.

Leading the box office was Lilo & Stitch, which drew in 7.0 per cent of total admissions. It was followed by A Minecraft Movie with 5.6 per cent, and The Conjuring: Last Rites, which secured a further 3.5 per cent.

In terms of film classifications, 36.4 per cent of films shown in 2025 were rated ‘15’, making it the most common rating. This was followed by ‘12A’ at 21.3 per cent and ‘PG’ at 19.2 per cent.

The top ten most watched films in Malta in 2025, ranked by viewership, were:

The figures highlight a diverse mix of family favourites, blockbuster franchises and action-packed releases dominating Maltese cinema screens throughout the year.
