Lil Zibz The Turtle Released After Being Rescued By NGO Żibel

Earlier in May, NGO Żibel’s Ghost Net Team rescued an injured loggerhead turtle, who was found very weak but with no visible injuries apart from a severely swollen tail.
Żibel explained how Nature Trust collected her immediately once docked in the port.
Upon a thorough medical check it was found that she had a fishing hook and line inside her body. The hook was successfully removed by the vet, but the line remained inside until she passed it naturally.
‘We had the pleasure to release her back into her habitat yesterday after months of rehab at Nature Trust’s Wildlife Centre in Xrobb l-Għaġin’, the NGO explained.
‘Thank you to all their dedicated volunteers who do incredible work and to our Żibel Team, namely Stephen, Robert, Karl and Gabriel who took action to rescue her!’
‘If you ever encounter an injured turtle, call Nature Trust on 99999505. Carry the turtle up onto your vessel while keeping them faced away from you as they do bite! Then, place a damp towel on them to calm them down. Once docked, Nature Trust will be there to help!’
