2024 Data released by Eurostat revealed that people in Malta have a life expectancy of 82.986 years old.

This puts Malta in the fourth category of six when it comes to life expectancy in Europe.

The zone with the highest life expectancy in the EU is the Spanish region of Comunidad de Madrid with 85.7 years. The lowest is Bulgaria with 73.9 years.

In Malta, women are also expected to outlive men by around 3.5 years.

The country with the largest gender gap when it comes to life expectancy is Latvia, with an average of 9.8 years in favour of women. The lowest is Norway, where women still outlive men, but only by about 2.8 years.

On average, women in the EU outlive men by about 5.2 years.
