Since 4 July, LESA has officially launched its Beach Patrols in collaboration with the Malta Tourism Authority (MTA), reinforcing its commitment to safer and more enjoyable beaches across Malta.

Speaking on local television programmes Kwarta Kuljum and Dirett, LESA's Operational Director, Claudio Tonna, explained that the initiative builds on the success of previous years and focuses on three key priorities: educating, preventing, and assisting the public. He stressed that the patrols are not intended to inconvenience beachgoers but to provide guidance, answer questions, and help everyone enjoy Malta's beaches safely and responsibly.

Education remains the patrols' first priority, with enforcement considered only when necessary. This year, many visitors have already approached officers for advice on what is and is not permitted on beaches. LESA officers are also trained in first aid, enabling them to provide assistance whenever required.

During patrols, officers monitor issues such as smoking outside designated areas, illegal barbecues, and the misuse of parking spaces reserved for persons with disabilities. Their visible presence acts as a deterrent while helping to maintain a safe and respectful environment for all.

The initiative also highlights the strong collaboration between LESA, the Malta Police Force, the Red Cross, and the Malta Tourism Authority, ensuring a coordinated effort to deliver safer beaches and a better experience for residents and visitors alike.
