Parliamentary Secretary for Youth, Research and Innovation, Keith Azzopardi Tanti, has launched three major funding programmes for 2026: BOOST, INVEST, and Youth Musical Training in Band Clubs. The initiatives aim to strengthen youth organisations and movements across Malta and Gozo, supporting participation, growth and engagement. Managed by Aġenzija Żgħażagħ, these schemes form a central part of government support for the voluntary youth sector and demonstrate a commitment to building an inclusive, participatory and resilient society.

The government is investing a total of €868,000, with €400,000 allocated to BOOST, €90,000 to the musical training programme, and €378,000 over three years to the INVEST programme. Beyond funding, the schemes help organisations expand activities, create new participation opportunities and encourage young people to reach their full potential.

Parliamentary Secretary Azzopardi Tanti emphasised that the programmes place young people at the centre of public policy. “When we invest in these programmes, we invest in the country’s future. Youth organisations and band clubs are the heart of the community, where young people learn, grow and develop a sense of belonging,” he said. The initiatives also form part of the National Youth Policy, which aims to strengthen support for voluntary organisations.

BOOST provides up to €3,000 per youth organisation for resources to improve youth work. INVEST, an operational grant over three years, offers up to €60,000 for larger organisations and €36,000 for smaller ones to cover staff costs. The Youth Musical Training scheme, in partnership with the National Association of Band Clubs, supports instrument purchases and music tuition, with a maximum grant of €2,500 per club.

Applications for BOOST and the musical training programme open on 12 January 2026 and close on 19 January 2026, while INVEST applications remain open until 19 November 2025. More information is available at youth.gov.mt/schemes.
