Largest Stained Glass Grandfather Clock Breaks National Record

A new national record celebrating Maltese craftsmanship and creativity was officially recognised this morning by Malta Records during a visit to a private residence in Mosta.

The record highlights the talent of local artisans and pays tribute to traditional hand-crafted skills that continue to thrive in the Maltese Islands.

The achievement was set by Charles Micallef, who created the largest grandfather clock made entirely of glass using the stained-glass technique.

Standing at an impressive height of 187.5 centimetres, with a width of 53 centimetres and a depth of 42 centimetres, the clock is a striking example of precision, artistry and dedication.

Mr Micallef is widely known for his love of manual crafts and for sharing his knowledge with others.

Throughout his life, he has taught numerous students, particularly in the specialised art of stained glass, helping to pass on this skill to new generations.
