Labour Says Energy Subsidies Not Guaranteed Under Alex Borg: PN Responds

In a recent statement, the Labour Party said that energy subsidies would not be guaranteed under a Nationalist Party led by Alex Borg.

They made reference to a number of clips where Borg said that subsidies are short-term and short-lived, as the government cannot keep issuing money to make up for those subsidies, especially given the current energy crises.

In response, Alex Borg issued a statement saying that the Labour Party is portraying the PN as being anti-subsidy, saying that this is not the case.

Borg said that under a Nationalist government, there will be long term plans which will go beyond subsidies, which are still important. He said that Malta makes the least use of renewable energy despite having strong sun, water and wind sources.

Borg also promised that Malta will not continue to depend on one energy source, and distribution will be strengthened to avoid energy issues in summer.
