Labour Pledges Full Refund Of Planning Fees For Green Buildings

A re-elected Labour Government would refund all planning fees for people investing in sustainable, energy-efficient buildings under a new environmental incentive scheme.

The proposal targets individuals and developers planning projects designed to reduce energy consumption and promote greener construction practices.

Under the measure, applicants meeting sustainability standards would have the full cost of planning tariffs returned by the Government.

Labour said the initiative is aimed at encouraging more environmentally friendly development while helping offset the higher upfront costs often associated with sustainable construction.

The pledge forms part of the party’s wider push towards greener infrastructure and energy efficiency, with ministers expected to place climate-focused policies at the centre of their election campaign.
