Labour Pledges €12,000 Electric Car Grant For Large Families

A re-elected Labour Government would introduce new financial support for larger families, including grants of up to €12,000 to help purchase bigger vehicles.

Under the proposal, parents with three children or more would receive a €5,000 grant towards the cost of buying a larger car to better meet their family’s needs. The scheme would rise to €12,000 for families choosing an electric vehicle.

Labour said the measure recognises the higher day-to-day expenses faced by larger households and aims to ease the financial burden on parents while encouraging cleaner transport choices.

The proposal forms part of the party’s wider pledges ahead of the next general election, with ministers expected to highlight both family support and environmental incentives as key priorities in their campaign.
