Labour Party Approves Another Group of Candidates Ahead of General Election

The Labour Party has approved another group of candidates who will contest the upcoming general election, as the party continues to build its electoral line-up.

The party’s National Executive confirmed the approval following a rigorous selection process led by the Candidates Commission, chaired by Notary Charles Mangion. The commission is tasked with evaluating applications before presenting them for final approval.

This second group consists of 26 candidates, including 13 newcomers. Among the new faces are Fleur Abela, Ramona Attard, Yana Borg Debono Grech, Jesmond Bonello, Georvin Bugeja, Joseph Bugeja, Samantha Pace Gasan, John Grech, Remenda Grech, Olaf McKay, Francesca Zarb, Roderick Zerafa, and Carlos Zarb, who will be contesting across various districts.

The remaining candidates in this group include a mix of experienced figures and returning contenders such as Ray Abela, Malcolm Paul Agius Galea, Alicia Bugeja Said, Rebecca Buttigieg, Naomi Cachia, Byron Camilleri, Katya De Giovanni, Julia Farrugia, Cressida Galea, Alex Muscat, Omar Farrugia, Davina Sammut Hili, and Deborah Schembri.

The Labour Party noted that the selection process is ongoing, with the Candidates Commission continuing its work in the coming days as more names are expected to be announced.
