“L-AĦĦAR 13” COMES TO LIFE ON STAGE AT SPAZZJU KREATTIV

The powerful Maltese novel L-Aħħar 13 by Ivan De Battista, first published by Merlin Publishers in 2013, is set to make its theatrical debut in an intimate production by imagin-Arts Productions at the Teatru ta’ Spazju Kreattiv.

Over a decade after its publication, the story of struggle, resilience, and human endurance will be brought vividly to life on stage.

The drama follows a man known only as “Hu”, portrayed by Ryan Mark De Battista, whose life has been shaped by forces beyond his control.

Confronted by past and present suffering, Hu’s journey is marked by moments of fleeting hope, emotional trauma, and a relentless search for strength.

Key figures from his life, including Matthew, Tifla, Omm, and Catherine, enter and exit across the narrative, alongside haunting voices that evoke memories of his dark past.

Directed by Ivan De Battista and produced by Simone De Battista, the production combines evocative set design, lighting, music, and videography to immerse the audience in the protagonist’s emotional journey.

Warning: the play includes references to abuse, suicide, and drug misuse. Recommended for ages 15+. Tickets are priced at €20 (€18 concessions). Performances run from 20–29 March 2026.
