Kurt Farrugia Appointed CEO Of Residenza Malta

The Ministry for Education and Sport has announced the appointment of Kurt Farrugia as the new Chief Executive Officer of Residenza Malta, with the appointment taking effect from 1st July 2026.

Farrugia brings extensive leadership experience across government and the public sector, having held several senior positions throughout his career. He previously served as Head of Government Communications and spokesperson to the Prime Minister, before being appointed Chief Executive Officer of Malta Enterprise. Most recently, he led Transport Malta as CEO.

During his two-year tenure at Transport Malta, Farrugia oversaw a number of strategic initiatives aimed at strengthening Malta's land transport, maritime and aviation sectors. Prior to that, while leading Malta Enterprise, he guided the agency through major investment projects, supported the growth of Malta's start-up ecosystem, and introduced various initiatives to assist local businesses.

Minister for Education and Sport Byron Camilleri welcomed the appointment, expressing confidence that Farrugia's experience in public administration, strategic planning and organisational leadership will further strengthen Residenza Malta's mission of attracting talent and investment that contribute to Malta's continued economic and social development.

The Ministry also paid tribute to the late Jonathan Cardona, thanking him for his dedication and vision, which played a significant role in the growth and success of Residenza Malta.
