KM Malta Airlines has announced a new direct service between Malta and Palermo as part of its Summer 2026 schedule.

The route will operate three times a week, connecting Malta International Airport with Palermo Falcone–Borsellino Airport. Flights are set to begin on 30th May 2026, complementing the airline’s wider summer network.

David Curmi, Chairman of KM Malta Airlines, said the new service would expand travel options for the Maltese public and attract more visitors to Malta.

He noted that Palermo is not currently served by direct flights from Malta and highlighted the strong cultural, economic, and tourism ties between the two islands.

Gianfranco Battisti, CEO of Gesap, the managing company of Palermo airport, welcomed the route, describing it as a strategic connection that strengthens Palermo’s role as a Mediterranean hub.

He added that the service would support international traffic growth and encourage tourism and commercial flows between Sicily and Malta.

Palermo, the capital of Sicily, is renowned for its history, culture, and gastronomy.

Visitors can explore landmarks such as the Palermo Cathedral and Norman Palace, enjoy the city’s street food, and wander through markets like Ballarò and Vucciria. The city also provides access to nearby destinations including Mondello, Cefalù, Segesta, and Erice, making it an ideal base for exploring western Sicily.

The Palermo service is part of KM Malta Airlines’ expanded Summer 2026 schedule, which also includes seasonal flights to Catania, offering seven weekly connections to Sicily.

Flights are available through the airline’s website, app, travel agents, and authorised sales channels.
