Kevin Azzopardi Appointed CEO Of Authority For Integrity In Maltese Sport

The Authority for Integrity in Maltese Sport (AIMS) has announced the appointment of Kevin Azzopardi as its new Chief Executive Officer following a public call.
Azzopardi brings over thirty years of experience in Maltese sport through a range of leadership roles. A graduate in Physical Education from the University of Malta in 2002, he taught at Mtarfa Boys Secondary School and Stella Maris College for 12 years before joining the Ministry for Education, Sport, Youth, Research and Innovation in 2014 as Education Officer for Physical Education and Sport.
He also holds a Master’s degree in Comparative Euro-Mediterranean Education Studies and is pursuing doctoral research at the University of Malta’s Institute for Maltese Studies, exploring the sociocultural identity that traditional and popular sport brings to Maltese towns and villages.

His sporting experience is extensive. He was a football referee for 18 years, including at international level, and later served as Director of Refereeing at the Malta FA and as a UEFA Referee Observer. He also held the role of Referee Development Officer at Northumberland FA in the UK. Since 2021, he has been Secretary General of the Maltese Olympic Committee, helping organise the 2023 Games of the Small States of Europe and contributing to Malta and Gozo securing the 2027 Commonwealth Youth Games. He also played a key role in Gozo joining the International Island Games Association.
Within the Maltese Olympic Committee, he was Malta’s sole representative on matters of sport integrity, liaising with the Olympic Movement Unit on the Prevention of the Manipulation of Competitions under the International Olympic Committee.
The Ministry for Education has congratulated Kevin Azzopardi on his appointment and wishes him success in his new role at AIMS.
