"Kemm Se Jkeċċi Mill-Barranin Li Hawn? Lil Min Se Jkeċċi L-Ewwel?" Asks Ex Prime Minister Joseph Muscat

Former Prime Minister Joseph Muscat took to his social media to respond to a recent proposal released by the Nationalist party aimed at tackling overpopulation.

Yesterday, Opposition leader Alex Borg, announced plans for a new Authority focused exclusively on population management, alongside an independent Immigration Board.

In response, Joseph muscat stated that the work of this Authority is already being done by the Identita’, the National Statistics Office, and Jobs Plus.

He proceeded to criticise the implementation of another Authority when the Nationalist Party claims they want to reduce bureaucracy.

“The idea of a similar authority has fascia ideologies,” stated Muscat, “90 years ago, Mussolini’s fascist government started l’Ufficio Centrale Demografico within the Italian Ministry to control population levels.”

Muscat proceeded to state that if PN wont to tackle the issue of overpopulation and foreign Nationals in Malta, they must clarify “how many foreigners will he kick out” and “who is he kicking out first?”

He questioned which sectors will have to close if this occurs.
